Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan had a message for Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson on Tuesday surrounding vaccinations against COVID-19.
Per a report, Jackson isn’t vaccinated. The news came about when the Ravens placed the superstar quarterback on the COVID list. He won’t be able to return to Baltimore’s practice until this coming weekend.
Gov. Hogan sent a message to Jackson on Tuesday, encouraging the Ravens quarterback to get vaccinated. The last thing the Maryland governor wants to see is the Ravens forfeit a playoff game because a player isn’t vaccinated.
“Lamar’s gotta get (vaccinated),” Hogan said, via Phil Yacuboski of WBAL News Radio. “With the rules the NFL put down, I can’t imagine a team wanting to forfeit a game or lose a chance at the playoffs and none of the players getting paid because someone won’t get a vaccine.”

The NFL was long stated it won’t force players to get vaccinated. The league, instead, has allowed more freedom for vaccinated players as opposed to unvaccinated.
The NFL is also implementing a forfeit rule this upcoming season instead of trying to reschedule cancelled games like it did last year. The forfeit rule will go into effect if a team can’t play a game because of COVID-19 protocols. Those same protocols allow greater freedoms to players and teams that are vaccinated.
Lamar Jackson had to miss practice because of a positive test coupled with the fact he’s unvaccinated. Perhaps he’ll change his mind before the 2021-22 season.
