The Steve Sarkisian era is off to a good start.
Texas, No. 21 in the preseason top 25, hosted No. 23 Louisiana to open the 2021 college football regular season. The Longhorns pulled away for a 38-18 win on Saturday.
It was an impressive performance by Texas, which faced a tough Louisiana squad to begin the season. The Longhorns were led by their rushing attack, totaling 170 yards on 42 attempts. Texas added 265 yards through the air.
Longtime Texas fan Matthew McConaughey was certainly impressed. The Hollywood actor took to social media following the win.
“From show to DOUGH, from talk to WALK, nobody act like one, when everybody BE one. All gas no brakes on the way to greatness. Longhorns win,” McConaughey tweeted on Saturday evening.

Texas will look to move to 2-0 next weekend, when the Longhorns travel on the road to face an SEC foe in Arkansas. The Razorbacks are 1-0 following a 38-17 win over Rice.
Kickoff for the Texas vs. Arkansas game is set for 7 p.m. E.T. on ESPN next weekend.
