It’s been a tough day for Ohio State football. Even former Buckeyes running back Maurice Clarett couldn’t help but blast OSU for its performance against Oregon on Saturday.
On paper, the Buckeyes should have had no problem beating the 12th-ranked Ducks on Saturday. Oregon was without two former five stars in Kayvon Thibodeaux and Justin Flowe. It didn’t matter.
No. 12 Oregon was the better team on Saturday. The Ducks not only played better, but wanted it more and it cost the Buckeyes a win. Ohio State’s ground game was non-existent and its rush defense was gashed for 269 yards combined from Oregon running backs CJ Verdell and Travis Dye and quarterback Anthony Brown.
All-in-all, it was a pretty embarrassing performance from the Buckeyes who were playing in front of their home fans for the first time in almost two years. Clarett couldn’t help but blast Ohio State football players for the stunning loss.
“All these big names… all these stars…. Doesn’t mean sh*t. Can you play or not,” Clarett said on Saturda. “Big players make big plays in big games.”

Ohio State has recruited better than Oregon in past years. There’s no doubt about it. But Mario Cristobal and the Ducks haven’t been far behind.
The reality is Oregon is catching up to college football’s biggest powers. Cristobal has built a monster and it was unleashed in Columbus on Saturday.
Ohio State football gets back to work next week in preparation of Tulsa next Saturday. The Buckeyes will no doubt exercise their demons against an inferior squad.
