Not a single team in the NFC East posted a record of .500 or better in 2020, but the tide could turn for a few of those clubs this upcoming fall. Mike Greenberg had one particular franchise in mind that he thinks could be “sneaky good” this season: the New York Giants.
The Get Up host detailed his argument on Wednesday, pointing to all of the offseason moves that the Giants front office made this spring. With additions like Kenny Golladay, Kyle Rudolph, Kevin Zeitler and more, Joe Judge should have the necessary pieces in place to mount a division title push.
Although Greenberg recognizes that the Giants have improved the rest of the roster, he maintained that the team won’t be able to win the division unless third-year quarterback Daniel Jones takes a step forward.
“The offensive line should be markedly better. Saquon Barkley should be back and healthy. They brought in weapons: a big receiver in Kenny Golladay. A small quick receiver in Kadarius Toney. The defense improved dramatically as the season went on… The Giants are going to be sneaky good. If Daniel Jones can play, the Giants are a playoff team this year,” Greenberg said.

Greenberg seems confident that Jones can produce now that he has the support around him. However, the former Duke quarterback’s first two years in the NFL haven’t suggested that will be the case.
Jones completed 62.5 percent of his passes for 2,943 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2020, while adding 423 yards and a score on the ground. But turnovers credited to the quarterback greatly hampered the Giants’ success, as he coughed up 11 interceptions and lost six fumbles.
Ball security has been an emphasis for Jones and the Giants this offseason as training camp gets underway. If the former No. 6 pick can clean up that aspect of his game, he may make a major improvement this fall.
