Los Angeles Lakers guard Alex Caruso was arrested by Texas A&M University police on Tuesday for possession of less than two ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Caruso is a College Station native and A&M alum, but that didn’t stop him from getting picked up here. He was actually arrested at the Easterwood Airport on A&M property.
Caruso posted bond and all in all, isn’t in much trouble. However, that didn’t stop him from being a major topic of discussion on social media.
After news of the arrest broke, the NBA world spoke up, including LeBron James and Stephen A. Smith.

Terrible judgment by Alex Caruso. Why would an NBA player leave LA to go to College Station? https://t.co/k7f3gLTYxS

This is an unfortunate start to the offseason for Caruso, who is coming off another productive year coming off the Lakers’ bench. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 6.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in 58 appearances.
Caruso is an unrestricted free agent this offseason. A favorite of LeBron, it will be interesting to see if the Lakers opt to bring him back.
