On Tuesday afternoon, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium had significant news to announce involving Zaire Wade.
Zaire, the son of NBA legend Dwyane Wade, is signing a contract with the NBA G-League and is expected to join the Utah Jazz’s affiliate team, the Salt Lake City Stars.
Back in April, it was announced that Wade purchases a minority ownership stake in the Jazz. Fast forward several months later, and his son will have the chance to play for their G-League affiliate.
It’ll most likely take time for Zaire to develop into an NBA-caliber player, if he ever does. 247Sports had the Sierra Canyon product ranked as the No. 29 combo guard in the 2021 recruiting class.

Most NBA fans love the idea of Zaire following in his father’s footsteps. After all, the basketball world adored Dwyane Wade for over a decade.

The Stars have to be the biggest winner from this signing. They now have a notable name on their roster who could generate some buzz for this upcoming season.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a major NBA signing without some backlash from the fans. There are plenty of people who are skeptical of whether or not Zaire deserved this opportunity in Salt Lake City.

It’s unclear if Dwyane Wade’s role with the Jazz played a role in this signing. That being said, it’s very easy for fans to jump to conclusions.
Hopefully, Zaire can take his game to the next level in Salt Lake City.
