On Tuesday, ESPN insider Field Yates reported that the New York Giants brought in three players for tryouts. Roughly 24 hours later, the Giants officially signed two of those three players.
The G-Men have signed running back Mike Weber and defensive back Jordyn Peters. The terms of their contracts have not been released at this time.
Peters was recently cut by the New York Jets to make room for offensive tackle Morgan Moses. He recorded 101 tackles, two sacks and an interception during his Auburn career.
As for Weber, he spent half of the 2020 season with the Green Bay Packers. However, the Ohio State product didn’t have a chance to shine in the Packers’ backfield since it was already loaded with proven talent.
Weber was a star for the Buckeyes, rushing for 2,676 yards and 24 touchdowns from 2016-18.

New York has a legitimate star at running back in Saquon Barkley, but it never hurts to have depth at that position.
Devontae Booker, Corey Clement and Gary Brightwell are currently behind Barkley on the depth chart. Weber will need to look better than at least one of those running backs in camp if he wants to make the Giants’ 53-man roster.
