There have been 22 NFL Drafts since the year 2000 and the start of the 21st century. Some of them have delivered Hall of Fame-worthy quarterbacks like Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers. But there were a bunch of stinkers mixed in there too.
NFL.com just released their ranking of every quarterback class in the 21st century thus far. Standing out as the worst of the bunch was the 2007 draft class.
As you may remember, JaMarcus Russell was the No. 1 overall pick in that draft. Russell is now widely considered one of the biggest draft busts of all-time.
The rest of the class didn’t yield a single reliable starter. Brady Quinn (22nd), Kevin Kolb (36th), John Beck (40th), Drew Stanton (43rd) and Trent Edwards (92nd) were all lackluster players who found little-to-no NFL success.

“We begin our journey in grim territory. The 2007 NFL Draft was “headlined” by JaMarcus Russell, arguably the most severe quarterback bust of all time and a first-overall whiff who set the Raiders back years. The 6-foot-6, 265-pound LSU star produced a grotesque 7-18 mark as a starter and finished 2009 — his final year in the league — as the worst passer in football. Russell netted $39.4 million, while the Raiders, in return, were handed a raging headache. Same goes for the Browns, who reached for Brady Quinn at No. 22…

Career backup Drew Stanton is one of the few to earn points inside a flatlining class that handed us John Beck, Trent Edwards and the overhyped Kevin Kolb. High-level busts and zero reliable starters make this the worst crop of them all,” Sessler wrote.
That’s a lot of bad quarterbacks. A lot of unmemorable ones as well.
The only class even close to being as bad as that one is the 2013 class. That one was headlined by the likes of E.J. Manuel, Geno Smith and Mike Glennon.
You can never predict which draft classes will be great and which will be terrible though. It may be years before we figure out what kind of class 2022 will be.
