The inevitable was finally made official on Friday afternoon.
As indicated by head coach David Culley earlier this week, Deshaun Watson has now been officially ruled out of Sunday’s opening game with a “not injury related” designation.
Tyrod Taylor has been named the Texans’ Week 1 starter.
The NFL world took to Twitter this afternoon to react to the official listing.

After his relationship with the Houston franchise had already begun to deteriorate, Watson was hit with more than 20 accusations of sexual assault/harassment from more than 20 different women earlier this year. The 25-year-old quarterback, who led the league in passing yards this past season, is currently locked in an ongoing legal battle.
Even with the magnitude of these accusations, Watson has been allowed to participate in team activities. Many fans and analysts wonder why Watson hasn’t been place on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, which would keep the accused QB away from the football field.
With the way things are going with Watson and the Texans franchise, it would be a shock if the former Clemson quarterback ever stepped foot on the field for Houston again.
Now, it’s just a matter of what team will make a trade for the drama-laden QB.
The Texans will kickoff their 2021 season with a Week 1 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
