The Miami Dolphins are seen by most as the team most-likely to trade for Deshaun Watson, however, another team might be entering the mix.
According to NFL analyst Chris Simms, Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has given the green light on a potential trade for Watson.
“And you (Mike Florio) and I both know that Philadelphia is in that mix for the Deshaun Watson thing. That’s a real thing. From everything I know, the owner has given them the green light as far as Howie Roseman and company to make that deal if it’s right. So, yes, you have to worry a little — and here’s just one other inkling. Another inkling told me they’re not sold on Jalen Hurts,” Simms told Mike Florio this week.
Earlier this week, FOX NFL insider Jay Glazer that a trade could be on the verge of happening. However, he pointed most strongly to the Dolphins.

Eagles fans are of course intrigued by the idea. Jalen Hurts has shown some promise, though he’s far from a proven quarterback.

Not everyone is sold, though.
“Hurts is NOT the issue!!! Two games of terrible play calling and coaching have cost us games. Hurts isn’t perfect but he sure ain’t the problem. Sirianni’s play calling is a–. 4 carries into the 4th when we had Miles gashing the Cowboys defense. Come on now!” one fan tweeted.
“He doesn’t even want to play here,” another fan said of Watson.
The no-trade clause is an issue, of course. Watson can say no to any trade. It’s unclear if he would approve of a trade to Philadelphia. Miami is believed to be a preferred destination.
The 2021 trade deadline is about a month away. It should be an interesting couple of weeks.
