Early Wednesday morning, free agent cornerback Richard Sherman announced he’s signing with the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Sherman met with Tampa Bay earlier this week and there was optimism the two sides would come to a deal. After spending the last three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, he now heads across the NFC to Tampa.
According to a report from ESPN, Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady reportedly reached out to Sherman about joining the team. After that, it was just a matter of time before Sherman inked a deal with the reigning champs.
“I went with the best offer I had, the best opportunity to go out there and put some great tape on, to lead another group,” Sherman said. “I feel comfortable and confident in my abilities to go out there and execute and help that team win.”
Football fans are glad to see Sherman back on a team.

Sherman and the Buccaneers will face off against the New England Patriots in Foxboro on Sunday night. Even with a banged up secondary, it’s unclear how much Sherman will play – if at all.
New England and Tampa Bay kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on NBC.
