Nick Saban Had 1 Favorite Moment In Saturday’s Win

September 5, 2021 by The Spun

Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban.

Nick Saban rarely, if ever, takes time during his post-game press conferences to praise one of his players. But he couldn’t help but compliment one of his running backs on Saturday evening.

The Alabama Crimson Tide took care of business against the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday. Bryce Young played like a future superstar (344 yards, four touchdowns) and ‘Bama’s running backs combined for a strong outing. Trey Sanders, in particular, had a special day.

Sanders, a five-star recruit in the 2019 cycle, didn’t see the field too often during his first two season in Tuscaloosa because of an injury. But he put the past behind him when he scored on a 20-yard run in the third quarter of Saturday’s game, putting the Crimson Tide up 41-3 over Miami. It was a special moment for the talented sophomore back.

Even Saban praised Sanders for his performance on Saturday.

“There’s probably nobody on our team that’s had more adversity and more things to overcome,” Saban in regards to Sanders, via Saturday Down South. “I was as happy as all get out to see him score a touchdown. I was really, really pleased about that.”

This could be just the start of what turns out to be a special year for Trey Sanders.

Alabama, meanwhile, has another superstar quarterback leading its offense. Bryce Young didn’t look like your average freshman during Saturday’s outing. He has a bright career ahead of him.

The Crimson Tide get back to work next Saturday against Mercer.
