Alabama looked as good as advertised in its season opener against Miami, but it appears that momentum from Saturday didn’t carry over to this Wednesday’s practice.
According to multiple reports, Nick Saban was not thrilled with his players’ performances this afternoon. In fact, he made a telling remark about his team’s mentality.
“We’ve got every external factor in the world that is affecting our ability to maintain intensity,” Saban told Charlie Potter of 247Sports.
In other words, the Crimson Tide haven’t been able to sustain the aggression they showed against the Hurricanes last weekend.

Michael Casagrande of AL.com also reported that Saban was heated after Wednesday’s practice session.
“Saban said Alabama didn’t come out ready to practice,” Casagrande reported on Twitter. “He sounds pissed.”

Saban always puts an emphasis on each practice. That’s why his team usually thrives on Saturdays.
Even though Alabama should be able to cruise against Mercer this weekend, Saban doesn’t want his players to just take their foot off the gas after every win.
If the Crimson Tide are going to win back-to-back championships, they can’t afford any letdowns against SEC opponents. And with the conference schedule less than a month away, Saban is doing his best to make sure that message gets across to his players.
