Ole Miss will be shorthanded on offense this Saturday afternoon against Alabama. It’s being reported that junior wide receiver Jonathan Mingo will not be able to play due to an injury.
WCBI-TV was first to report that Mingo will be inactive against the Crimson Tide. He’s reportedly suffered a broken foot.
Mingo has been an integral part of Ole Miss’s offense this season, as he has 15 receptions for 290 yards and three touchdowns through three games. His absence will undoubtedly affect the Rebels’ passing game this weekend.
To make matters worse, Mingo isn’t expected to only miss this afternoon’s game against Alabama. The current expectation is that he’ll be out indefinitely.
BREAKING: Our @Chris_Bolton_12 and I are reporting #OleMiss WR Jonathan Mingo is out indefinitely with a broken foot. He won’t play tomorrow against #1 Alabama.
Tough blow for the Rebels. Mingo had 15 catches for 290 yards and 3 TDs this season.
More details to come.

With Mingo out for the foreseeable future, the Rebels will need some of their younger players to step up on offense. It also means we could see increased workloads for Dontario Drummond and Braylon Sanders.
Drummond has been the top wide receiver for Ole Miss this season with 339 yards and four touchdowns. However, it’ll be interesting to see if he can sustain that production with Mingo out of the lineup.
As for this afternoon’s game, college football fans should expect Rebels quarterback Matt Corral to put the offense on his shoulders against the Crimson Tide.
Kickoff for Alabama-Ole Miss is at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
