Kayvon Thibodeaux’s status is up in the air ahead of Saturday’s marquee clash between the Oregon Ducks and Ohio State Buckeyes.
Thibodeaux, one of the best players in college football, left the Ducks’ season opener against Fresno State with an injury last Saturday. The star edge rusher was rolled up on from behind and his ankle paid the price. After laying down on the field for a few minutes, he walked off under his own power.
The good news is that Thibodeaux eventually reentered the game and even made a tackle. The bad news is that he then exited the game a second time and never returned. Now, his status is questionable ahead of Oregon’s most important game of the year versus No. 3 Ohio State. But it’s starting to look like there’s growing optimism the former five star will play on Saturday.
According to Oregon beat writer James Crepea, Thibodeaux made the trip to Columbus with his Oregon teammates on Thursday.

This doesn’t mean Kayvon Thibodeaux is 100 percent going to play on Saturday. But it’s a good sign.
The 12th-ranked Oregon Ducks need Thibodeaux on the field to have any chance at upsetting the Buckeyes. His ability to cause disruptions in the backfield is unparalleled. Frustrating C.J. Stroud will be vital for Oregon to have a chance.
Thibodeaux is in Columbus at the moment. We’ll have to wait until Saturday to find out whether or not he’s able to give it a go.
No. 3 Ohio State hosts No. 12 Oregon on Saturday at noon ET on FOX.
