Packers Reportedly ‘Close’ To Agreement With Aaron Rodgers

What’s been a long and stressful offseason involving Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers may finally come to an end as soon as Monday evening.

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Rodgers and the Packers are “close” on an agreement that would keep the reigning MVP in Green Bay at least one more year. While the agreement is not yet completed, it’s heading in the right direction.

“Packers are offering concessions and are close to an agreement that would bring Aaron Rodgers back to Green Bay for at least this season, sources tell ESPN,” Schefter reported on Twitter. “Deal is not done but it is close.”

Schefter also dropped an interesting nugget surrounding a potential agreement. The agreement would ensure Rodgers plays just one more year for the Packers. So, in other words, this truly will be the “Last Dance.”

Here’s the latest on Monday’s developing story:

This isn’t all too surprising. The Packers were never going to trade away Aaron Rodgers. The ball was always in their court.

Rodgers, on the flip side, wasn’t going to walk away from the millions he’ll earn this upcoming season. The only option he had was to return to Green Bay. But it looks like the Packers are willing to work with him.

The reported “agreement” between Rodgers and Green Bay is predicated on the veteran quarterback playing just one more season. The Packers would then reportedly find a trade partner during the 2022 offseason, if that’s still the route Rodgers wants to take.

What do you think, Packers fans? Is this the right move by Green Bay’s front office?
