The finish to today’s BMW Championship was an epic one.
Patrick Cantlay took down Bryson DeChambeau in awesome fashion at the BMW Championship on Sunday afternoon. Cantlay defeated DeChambeau following several sudden-death playoff holes.
Cantlay and DeChambeau finished the tournament in regulation at -27. The golfers then went to sudden death. After six holes, Cantlay finally edged out DeChambeau for the tournament championship.
The two matched each other shot for shot. DeChambeau had a chance to win on multiple occasions, but couldn’t get it done with his putter. Cantlay eventually won with a putt of his own.
Former professional golfer turned sports media personality Paige Spiranac said there’s one main lesson from today’s finish.
“If we learned anything today it’s that drive for show, putt for dough is real,” Spiranac tweeted on Sunday night.

She’s not wrong. If DeChambeau was just a little bit better with his putter, he would’ve won going away on Sunday. However, Cantlay was able to stay in the tournament with some big putts of his own.

Cantlay now has three wins during the 2020-21 PGA Tour season. The 29-year-old golfer will be a force to be reckoned with moving forward.
