The Pittsburgh Penguins have qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 16th season in a row.
That may not mean much to some, but it’s still the longest active playoff streak in North American sports right now. During this run, the Penguins have won three Stanley Cups and have been to four Stanley Cup Finals.
They’ve also made the Eastern Conference Final five times and have the most playoff series wins (20).
Penguins fans are more than excited as the team will try to win its fourth championship in the Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin era.
Longest. Active. Postseason. Streak.
Incredible.

The Penguins’ first-round opponent isn’t known yet as the NHL’s regular-season continues for two more weeks. If they stay at third place in the Metropolitan Division, they’ll likely get the New York Rangers since the Carolina Hurricanes continue to lead the division.
However, if the Washington Capitals catch the Penguins in third, they’d fall to a wild card spot and likely take on the Florida Panthers, who have the best record in the conference.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs will get underway on Monday, May 2nd.
