Peyton Manning Reveals His ‘Genius’ Youth Football Strategy

September 12, 2021 by The Spun

Peyton Manning in a press conference.

NFL legend Peyton Manning is coaching his son’s flag football team this year, and he’s come up with a “genius” strategy.

Manning’s football IQ was a big reason why he was such a successful quarterback in the NFL. It’s also a reason major television networks have been fighting to bring him on as an analyst these past few years. ESPN, of course, won the prize. Manning will lead ESPN’s secondary stream of Monday Night Football this season.

In the meantime, Manning will be coaching his son Marshall’s flag football team this fall. One of the biggest complaints surrounding youth sports is playing time. Manning’s come up with a way to combat the general and constant complaints from parents.

Marshall’s flag football team requires at least five players. Manning is going to leave the team at that number to ensure everyone gets equal playing time.

“That way I don’t have to deal with any complaining parents,” Manning told the IndyStar this week, via Yahoo Sports. “Because all five of these kids play the entire game. They get their money and time’s worth for signing up for this league.”

It doesn’t sound like the strategy is working out too well. Manning went on to say he’s not that good of a coach.

At least he’s having fun.

“I’m not sure I’m a very good coach,” Manning continued. “I enjoy doing it.”

We’re sure his players don’t mind whether or not he’s a good coach. He’s Peyton Manning.

The quarterback legend will be on ESPN2 when the Ravens and Raiders battle it out on Monday Night Football next week.
