Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Tyler Anderson is on the verge of being traded. Fortunately for him, he won’t have to leave the state of Pennsylvania.
Anderson is reportedly heading to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for minor leaguers Cristian Hernandez and Abrahan Gutierrez. The 31-year-old Anderson was 5-8 with a 4.35 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 18 starts with the Pirates this season.
The veteran lefty previously pitched for the Colorado Rockies (2016-19) and San Francisco Giants (2020).
Anderson is the second pitcher traded by the Pirates in the last two days after Pittsburgh sent reliever Clay Holmes to the New York Yankees on Monday.

The Phillies enter tonight 50-49 overall and in second place in the NL East. They are 3.5 games behind the New York Mets, who reportedly also inquired about Anderson.
Pitching has been the Phillies’ primary problem this season, primarily in the bullpen but also in the rotation. The hope for Philadelphia is that Anderson can give them a boost in the latter department.
