Pittsburgh Steelers fans were promised a new and improved Ben Roethlisberger for the 2021 season. On Wednesday, the NFL world received its first look at Roethlisberger’s new physique.
Since the Steelers reported to training camp this afternoon, the team’s camera crew took a few picture of Roethlisberger showing up for his 18th camp.
Judging by a photo that ESPN insider Adam Schefter shared on Twitter, it looks like Roethlisberger changed his offseason workout schedule and put an emphasis on dieting.
“Ben camp says biggest concern is weight loss,” Ryan Burr reported. “He has been so driven since [the] season ended. Source says his diet is stricter than [Tom] Brady.”

Roethlisberger wasn’t terrible by any means in 2020, but he did struggle in the Steelers’ playoff loss to the Browns.
Despite that disappointing finish, Steelers president Art Rooney is very confident that Roethlisberger will remain an impact player for the franchise at 39 years old.
“We’re still confident he has the ability to do that,” Rooney said. “His arm, I would say, is as strong or almost as strong as ever, so I think he’s certainly capable of getting the job done. Part of the concern is putting a (competitive) team around him, and we had a good discussion about that.”
