Following the release of the Richard Sherman 911 call last week, there was significant public blowback regarding how the dispatcher conducted herself on the line.
It seems that outcry has prompted at least some action. This afternoon, the Redmond Police Department released a statement clarifying that they had nothing to do with the 911 call, even though they had been targeted by some people who wanted the dispatcher punished.
While the Redmond PD was not involved in the call, the King County Sheriff’s Office was, and they have opened a review of how things were handled.
“The King County Sheriff’s Office, in response to public comment, opened an administrative review of this matter that will take several months to conclude,” the Redmond statement reads.

Sherman, 33, a free agent cornerback, pleaded not guilty to five misdemeanor counts on Friday, days after the frightening incident involving the former Seattle Seahawks star, his wife and in-laws.
Sherman, who tried to forcibly enter his in-laws’ home while allegedly drunk, has been charged with two domestic violence counts, criminal trespass in the second degree, malicious mischief in the third degree, resisting arrest, driving while under the influence and reckless endangerment of roadway workers, according to ESPN.
“I am deeply remorseful for my actions on Tuesday night,” Sherman wrote in a statement. “I behaved in a manner I am not proud of. I have been dealing with some personal challenges over the last several months, but that is not an excuse for how I acted.
“The importance of mental and emotional health is extremely real and I vow to get the help I need. I appreciate all of the people who have reached out in support of me and my family, including our community here in Seattle. I am grateful to have such an amazing wife, family and support system to lean on during this time.”
