Ravens Reportedly Plan To Waive Notable Tight End

August 10, 2021 by The Spun

The Baltimore Ravens are moving on from a tight end they signed after he went undrafted in 2020.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Ravens plan to waive former Oregon star tight end Jacob Breeland. Breeland’s senior year with the Ducks was derailed by an injury. Per Pelissero, he’s still working his way back from the major setback.

Breeland was sensational in the first half of his senior season. He caught 26 passes for 405 yards and six touchdowns in six games. He had All-American and future NFL Draft pick written all over him. Disaster ensued when he suffered a torn ACL against Colorado in the Ducks’ sixth game of the 2019 season.

Breeland signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2020. His time with Baltimore appears to have come to an end, but his professional career isn’t over just yet. It might not take long for other teams to get into the mix considering Breeland’s potential.

The #Ravens plan to waive TE Jacob Breeland, per source. The former Oregon star signed as an undrafted free agent in 2020 while rehabbing a serious knee injury. The hope is a fresh start will be good for Breeland, who scored 13 career TDs for the Ducks.

A fresh start elsewhere could be all Jacob Breeland needs to continue his rehabilitation and make a name for himself in the NFL. By the sound of it, he’s still a ways away from getting on the gridiron, though.

Breeland will soon hit the free-agent market as he looks for his next NFL home.

The Ravens, meanwhile, are pretty stacked at the tight end position. Mark Andrews leads the unit and backup Nick Boyle, one of the NFL’s best blocking tight ends, should be ready to go by Week 1 of the 2021 season.
