Report Before Fresno State-UConn Game Is Going Viral

August 29, 2021 by The Spun

Jeff Tedford talks to Fresno State player.

UConn and Fresno State are currently locked in a scorching season-opener at Bulldog Stadium. The highs for today’s forecast in Fresno, California are up to a scalding 105 degrees.

With these insanely hot temperatures come some equally ridiculous precautions.

According to pregame reports from CBS Sports, Fresno State has a contingency plan in case their cleats melt on the artificial turf.

This plan aside, the Bulldogs are likely more equipped to deal with this heat than the northeastern based Huskies.

Before the start of the 2020 season, UConn was one of the first universities to cancel their football season due to concerns with the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, today’s contest is the program’s first game in more than 21 months. Through their most recent season in 2019, the Huskies logged a disappointing 2-10 record.

Fresno State is coming off a shortened Mountain West season in 2020, logging a 3-3 record.

The Bulldogs currently lead UConn 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.
