Earlier this afternoon, it looked like the Pittsburgh Pirates had a third significant trade in place before the deadline.
The Pirates were reportedly sending starting pitcher Tyler Anderson to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for minor leaguers Cristian Hernandez and Abrahan Gutierrez. The 31-year-old Anderson was 5-8 with a 4.35 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 18 starts with the Pirates this season.
In the hours since the trade was announced the deal between the two teams appears to have hit a snag. According to MLB inside Jon Heyman, the trade has been delayed.
“The Anderson trade to the Phillies has been delayed,” he said on Twitter. “The cause is uncertain.”

Pirates insider Jason Mackey announced that Anderson is currently warming up in the bullpen – in a Pirates uniform.

It’s unclear what happened with the trade. One this that is clear is that Anderson isn’t going anywhere just yet.
The two teams could easily re-start discussions with a few days left until the trade deadline passes. However, it’s puzzling that the trade seemingly fell apart with little information.
