There’s been a lot of trade speculation swirling for Michael Thomas this week, but it sounds like the New Orleans Saints are getting on the same page as their star wide receiver.
According to a report from Yahoo! Sports NFL insider Charles Robinson, Thomas had a productive meeting with Saints head coach Sean Payton on Wednesday.
Thomas and the Saints had been going through some tough times as of late. The All-Pro wide receiver underwent surgery that will sideline him several weeks into the season. According to multiple reports, the Saints wanted the surgery to take place much earlier this offseason. Thomas reportedly went radio silent on the Saints earlier this summer.
Thankfully for Saints fans, Robinson reports that Thomas and the organization are working through their issues.

From the report:
Two sources familiar with the talks said Payton and Thomas had a recent meeting to clear the air over two lingering issues: comments Payton made regarding his frustration over the offseason timing of Thomas’s ankle surgery; and a subsequent social media post from Thomas that suggested the wideout was now at odds with the team.
“They had a good talk about [the issues],” one source said. “I think they both believe it’s not anything that has to go any further than what is already out there. There was some frustration from both viewpoints and that was the point of the meeting.”
A second source added of the meeting: “I think and hope they worked [things] out.”
It’s understandable for both sides to be frustrated, but it sounds like they will be able to work through it.
Thomas has been one of the best wide receivers in the NFL since joining the Saints out of Ohio State. If New Orleans is going to make noise in the post-Drew Brees era, Thomas will likely play a major role.
New Orleans is set to open the 2021 season on Sunday, Sept. 12 against Green Bay.
