In six days, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers begin their Super Bowl title defense against the Dallas Cowboys. Ahead of the season opener, tight end Rob Gronkowski gave his thoughts on Thursday night games.
Appearing on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, Gronkowski said that opening night is going to be special. He said that he loves Thursday night games in part because he gets some extra days to recover after. But he’s especially excited to see the fans again.
“The night is gonna be pretty special. I love thursday night games. Get a couple of days off and recover. What I’m excited about is having fans in the stands,” Gronkowski said.
It’s been seven months since Gronkowski last took the field for a meaningful NFL game. He gets excited pretty easily, so he has to be absolutely pumped for this one.

Rob Gronkowski came out of retirement in 2020 to reunite with Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. He was totally healthy that season, and finished the year with 45 receptions for 623 yards and seven touchdowns.
But Gronkowski had one of his best postseason performances ever in Super Bowl LV. He had six receptions for 67 yards and two touchdowns from his longtime friend in the 31-9 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Gronkowski was so happy with how the season went that he eagerly re-upped with the team in the offseason. He signed a one-year, $10 million deal to come back this year.
How big of a game do you think Rob Gronkowski will have in the Thursday night game against the Cowboys?
