Saints Get Huge Boost Before Game vs. Packers

September 11, 2021 by The Spun

On Thursday, the New Orleans Saints added Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore to their injury report because of a knee injury.

Of course, that concerned the team’s fan base because Lattimore is the best cornerback on the Saints’ defense. When he’s playing at a high level, he can legitimately shut down top-tier wide receivers.

With the Green Bay Packers on their schedule for Week 1, the Saints are going to need Lattimore to go head-to-head with All-Pro wideout Davante Adams. Luckily for the Saints, it appears Lattimore’s knee injury isn’t too serious.

According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, the Saints had Lattimore back at practice this Friday. That’s an encouraging sign for Lattimore’s status this Sunday.

New Orleans is expected to be without Ken Crawley for this weekend, so it’s imperative that Lattimore suits up against the Packers.

The Saints acquired another reliable cornerback this week in Bradley Roby, but he can’t play until Week 2 because he’s suspended for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Since Crawley and Roby are out of the cornerback rotation for this Sunday, New Orleans could be forced to start rookie cornerback Paulson Adebo. He has the potential to be a legitimate playmaker for Sean Payton’s defense, but he’s considered an unproven player at this time.

Kickoff for the Packers-Saints game is at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
