Veteran outside linebacker Kwon Alexander is reportedly making a visit to New Orleans this afternoon, per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. And while his most recent Saints team seems to positioned to re-sign him in 2021, a few other teams are also reportedly interested in the former Pro Bowler.
After starting the 2020 season with five games for the San Francisco 49ers, Alexander was traded to New Orleans midway through the year. Through seven starts with the Saints, the former fourth-round draft pick logged 27 tackles, two fumble recoveries and one QB hit.
Unfortunately, his campaign with New Orleans was cut short by a season-ending Achilles tear in Week 16.
Before another series of serious injuries hampered his production in 2018-19 (torn ACL/torn pectoral muscle), Alexander was a top linebacker in the NFL game. Through just his second season out of LSU in 2016, the rising star led the league in solo tackles (108). The very next year he earned his first and only Pro-Bowl appearance behind 97 total tackles and three interceptions.
Free-agent linebacker Kwon Alexander is visiting the Saints today, per source. Alexander is said to have other teams interested in signing him as well, but a reunion with the Saints is a possibility.

The Saints could certainly use a veteran at the linebacker position in 2021.
As of right now, incoming 60th overall rookie Pete Werner and second-year LB Chase Hansen (recorded no stats in 2020) are slated to start alongside longtime New Orleans star Demario Davis. Alexander would no doubt be a significant upgrade to pair up with Davis on the line.
Before he was traded to the Saints midway through the 2020 season, Alexander signed a four-year, $54 million contract with San Francisco in 2019.
It’ll certainly be interesting to see what kind of value his next contract holds.
