The Los Angeles Lakers’ main priority this offseason is to find the right head coach. After the 2021-22 regular season ended, the team parted ways with Frank Vogel.
Though he doesn’t have any coaching experience, Shaquille O’Neal has decided to throw his name into the conversation.
On the latest episode of “The Big Podcast with Shaq,” the Lakers legend revealed what it would take for him to coach his former team. Let’s just say his asking price is steep.
O’Neal revealed that he’d want a four-year, $100 million deal from the Lakers.
“If the Lakers offered me $25 million a year for four years, I’d coach the Lakers,” O’Neal said. “I’ll need a four-year contract. I’d coach them right now.”

The odds of the Lakers hiring O’Neal are slim to none. It would be interesting to see him coaching an NBA team though.
As of now, Mark Jackson is the odds-on favorite to become the next head coach of the Lakers. According to The Athletic, LeBron James would be “very enthused” by the prospect of Jackson coaching the Lakers.
