Just over 24 hours ago, Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib made an announcement that had the football world showing an outpouring of love and support.
Nassib became the first active NFL player to announce that he is gay. Immediately following his announcement, he heard from fans, other NFL players and plenty of other sports personalities celebrating his announcement.
While their words were great to see, many fans opened up their wallets to show support as well. Whether donating to the Trevor Project – which Nassib raised awareness for – or buying his jersey, fans showed their love for the Raiders defensive end.
In fact, they showed so much support that Nassib had the highest-selling jersey across the Fanatics network on Monday and Tuesday, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The former Penn State star heard from other Nittany Lions like Saquon Barkley and more. His former head coach, James Franklin, praised Nassib for his strength in a statement.
“I am very proud of Carl for his courage and voice,” Franklin wrote on Twitter. “This announcement doesn’t surprise me because if you know Carl, you know his strength. Carl’s story continues to add chapters which will have an impact well beyond the field of play.”
It’s great to see the football community showing its support for Nassib.
