Shortly after Deebo Samuel’s trade request went public, the All-Pro wide receiver liked a photoshopped picture of himself in a Dallas Cowboys jersey. As you’d expect, that led to a lot of speculation about Samuel’s future with the San Francisco 49ers.
During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones was indirectly asked about the team’s interest in Samuel.
“You obviously keep ur eye on anything and everything thats going on,” Jones replied. “Things have to fit in and work, but we’re always looking at where we are from a personnel standpoint and where we can get better.”
This answer isn’t really a surprising one. Every NFL front office is always looking for ways to upgrade their roster.
That being said, Samuel would obviously take the Cowboys’ offense to the next level. He’d give Kellen Moore’s unit a unique weapon that they don’t currently have.

Unfortunately for Cowboys fans, their favorite team has not been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Samuel. Earlier this Friday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler listed the New York Jets, Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers as possible suitors for the South Carolina product.
“There are a few teams that could have interest here – Jets, Lions, Packers,” Fowler said on Get Up. “Those are some early names that can get in the mix here. We’ll see how far they’re willing to go because this is a guy you have to give up a baseline of a first-round pick to acquire only to pay $20+ million per year.”
Samuel’s trade market could heat up between now and the NFL Draft. That is, of course, if the 49ers are willing to deal him.
