The Buccaneers Have Named 6 Captains For This Season

September 7, 2021 by The Spun

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans and quarterback Tom Brady shake hands.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers begin their Super Bowl title defense this Thursday against the Dallas Cowboys. Ahead of that big game, the Buccaneers have named their captains for the coming season.

On Monday, the Buccaneers announced that six players will wear the captain’s badge this coming season. For the offense, it will be quarterback Tom Brady and wide receiver Mike Evans. On defense, linebackers Lavonte David and Devin White. As for special teams, punter Bradley Pinion and linebacker Kevin Minter get the badge.

Tom Brady needs no introduction. He’s the leader of every team he plays for and the reigning Super Bowl MVP.

Mike Evans is a three-time Pro Bowler and the team’s all-time leading receiver. He’s had 1,000 receiving yards in each of his seven NFL seasons.

Lavonte David is the Buccaneers’ longest-tenured player and a sure-handed tackler with over 1,100 tackles in nine seasons.

Devin White is similarly a dominating force at linebacker who already ranks among the elite at age 23.

Bradley Pinion has six years of starting punter experience, four with the 49ers and two with the Buccaneers. He’s also the Bucs’ kickoff specialist.

Kevin Minter is an eight-year NFL veteran and has played the last three seasons with the Buccaneers. In that span he has 59 tackles in 37 games.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have talent at just about every level of the team – offense, defense and special teams.

They brought back just about everyone who contributed to their 2020 Super Bowl team too.

Suffice it to say, there’s plenty of reason to believe that the Buccaneers can win the NFC again. A Super Bowl repeat could be in the cards too.
