A concussion knocked New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones out of Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. But after several days to recover, today’s update appears promising.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Giants head coach Joe Judge announced that Jones is progressing through concussion protocol. He will be a non-contact participant in Giants practice today.
Jones suffered his concussion in the first half against the Cowboys this past Sunday. He went 5 of 13 for 98 yards and had nine rushing yards before being replaced by Mike Glennon.
The Giants quarterback has four touchdowns and just one interception through his 4.5 games played. His 0.6-percent interception rate ranks among the lowest in the NFL.
But the Giants offense still ranks in the middle of the pack while the defense is in the bottom quarter of the league. The end result is a 1-4 record that has them at risk of being eliminated from the playoffs before November.

2021 is a crucial year for Daniel Jones. In the 2022 offseason, the team must decide whether to pick up his fifth-year option or not.
Jones is 9-22 as a starter but has shown flashes of what made him worthy of the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He has a 62.5-percent completion rate, 39 touchdowns and an 85.6 passer rating over 32 games.
But turnovers have been a problem for Jones. He’s fumbled the ball 32 times and thrown 23 interceptions in his short career.
The more opportunities he has to play, the better his chances of showing the Giants that they don’t need to move on from him.
