Tyron Smith Sends Clear Message Before 2021 Season

September 4, 2021 by The Spun

Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Tyron Smith had his 2020 season cut short due to a neck injury that required surgery. There were concerns about his future in the NFL, but it sounds like he’s back to 100 percent for the 2021 campaign.

For the past few years, Smith has worn a neck roll for each game. He has decided to ditch that look for this season because he feels very healthy going into Week 1.

In fact, Smith told Cowboys reporters on Thursday that he hasn’t felt this good in a long time.

“It’s been a while since I’ve felt this good,” Smith said, via Cowboys’ official website. “I don’t know if you guys saw, but I usually have the huge Cowboy neck roll on. I finally took that off. The neck’s feeling normal now.”

This is a great sign for the Cowboys, as their offense is at its best when Smith is on the field.

Smith hasn’t completed a full season since 2015 due to a plethora of injuries. As of now, he plans on snapping that streak this year.

“That’s the goal. I’m going to do my best to play all 17 games,” Smith said. “And I will do it.”

Smith, a seven-time Pro Bowler, is still one of the most dominant offensive tackles in the NFL. All he needs to do now is prove that he can healthy.
