July 27, 2021 by The Spun

Daniel Kilgore celebrates with Tyreek Hill.

Veteran offensive lineman Daniel Kilgore has hung up his cleats for the last time. The former Kansas City Chiefs center announced his retirement on Monday.

In his retirement announcement, Kilgore called his career an “unforgettable decade.” He also thanked the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs for what they did for him throughout his career.

“After an unforgettable decade, I am announcing my retirement from the NFL,” Kilgore said in a statement, via Twitter. “…I am grateful to the San Francisco 49ers for drafting a kid out of App State. The friendships and memories made in the Bay Area will never be forgotten. To the Miami Dolphins thank you for opening your arms to me and treating my family and I first class. And lastly to the Kansas City Chiefs for letting me join an unbelievably talented team and reaching my goal of 10 years playing in the NFL.”

Kilgore spent the first seven years of his professional career with the 49ers. He then played two seasons with the Dolphins and one with the Chiefs. He played in 98 and started 60 games throughout his career.

Daniel Kilgore went to two Super Bowls during his 10-year career. He played for the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII and the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV, both of which were losses by Kilgore’s teams at the time.

Kilgore was a valuable depth player and productive starter when call upon. Congratulations on a great career, Daniel!
