Video Shows Dak Prescott Throwing For First Time In Over A Week

August 8, 2021 by The Spun

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott at practice.

Dak Prescott hasn’t been a full participant in practice for over a week now, but the Dallas Cowboys quarterback took a significant step forward on Saturday.

Prescott’s been nursing a shoulder strain for a little over a week. Although it’s not considered serious, Prescott essentially has had to stop throwing until any pain or soreness in his shoulder goes away. He hasn’t even thrown a football for a few days, as a result.

“I felt some soreness when making certain throws today, and I really just decided not to push things too far,” Prescott said last week. “Better to be cautious and smart about it. I don’t see this as any kind of serious setback. We’ll treat it on a daily basis, and I’ll be fine.”

Prescott took a significant step forward on Saturday. He threw a few short passes at the Cowboys’ practice.

This appears to be a good sign. It’s the first time Dak Prescott’s thrown a football, at least while reporters have been in attendance, since July 28.

The Cowboys have downplayed the injury multiple times since training camp began. There’s no reason to cause panic, especially considering Dallas expects its franchise quarterback to be good to go by the time the 2021 season commences.

This specific situation appears to be a wait-and-see for both Prescott and the Cowboys. If his shoulder feels okay, Prescott might push a bit with the hope the strain doesn’t flare up. If he still feels some pain or soreness, he may have to sit on the sidelines for another week or two.

The Cowboys aren’t going to rush Prescott back into action. The regular season doesn’t start for another month. Prescott has plenty of time to get back to full health.
