Watch: Cowboys Wide Receiver Had Scary Moment At Practice

July 28, 2021 by The Spun

Dallas Cowboys star Michael Gallup celebrates with Dak Prescott during a game against the Seattle Seahawks in the playoffs.

Dallas wide receiver Michael Gallup took a concerning tumble during a training camp practice on Tuesday.

Running routes in his fourth training camp as a Cowboy, the former third-round draft pick tried to catch up to a slightly overthrown ball from Dak Prescott in the corner of the end zone. Unable to make the grab, Gallup’s momentum kept him going through the back of the end zone and crashing over the fence at a training field in Oxnard, California.

After landing awkwardly on the other side of the fence, Gallup walked off the field with multiple members of the Dallas training staff. He would later return to practice, per Ari Meirov of ProFootballFocus.

Here’s a clip of the incident:

Through three seasons with the Cowboys, Gallup has logged 158 receptions, 2,457 yards and 13 touchdowns. And despite playing under four different starting quarterbacks this past season, the 25-year-old WR notched 843 yards in 2020, trailing only Amari Cooper (1,114) and CeeDee Lamb (935).

Slated to make $2.4 million through the 2021 season, Gallup is entering the final season of his four-year rookie contract. Having not yet signed an extension deal, the up-and-coming receiver could be an excellent free-agent option following his fourth NFL season.

That being said, Gallup would prefer to reach a longterm deal with his current team.

“Obviously, I’d love to stay here. I’d love to be in Dallas, love the community, love the city, love the fans, so it’s just up in the air, but I want to be right here,” he said on a recent appearance with Good Morning Football.

Gallup’s progress through the 2021 season will likely determine his future with the Cowboys franchise.
