Earlier Thursday, 30 of the best golfers in the world stepped on the course at East Lake Country Club in Atlanta, Georgia for the Tour Championship.
During the first round of the tournament, fan-favorite Viktor Hovland appeared to have hit the shot of the tournament. Hitting from behind a few trees, he was just trying to get the ball somewhere on the green.
Instead, Hovland landed the ball about three feet away from the pin and spun it right into the cup. After looking like he hit the best shot of the weekend, it turns out that he didn’t even hit the best shot of the day.
That honor belongs to Harris English, who did something that has never been done in competition at East Lake. Stepping up to the tee on No. 15, all English could see was water.
The long Par 3 is a treacherous hole that is all water before a peninsula green. That was no matter to English, who landed the ball perfectly and saw it coast into the hole for an ace.
Check it out.

It’s the first hole-in-one ever on the No. 15 hole at East Lake – which stretched out to 224 yards today.
With the ace, English moved to six-under for the tournament and two-under for the day. He sits six shots back of the leader, Patrick Cantlay, who is at 12-under par.
