Justin Fields was known for his impressive combination of accuracy and athleticism at Ohio State. Both were on display during an incredible touchdown pass during tonight’s preseason game against the Tennessee Titans.
Down 10-7 with less than a minute left in the first half of tonight’s preseason finale, Fields took a shotgun snap from the Titans’ 20 yard line. As the pocket closed in around him, he took off to the right, keeping his eyes downfield the whole way.
As a Titans defensive lineman came down on him, he let one go from just a yard behind the line of scrimmage, off of his back foot. Somehow, he found tight end Jesper Horsted, who extended over two defenders for an incredible touchdown catch.
There aren’t many quarterbacks making this throw, especially rookies like Fields. As he has throughout the offseason, the play has Bears fans drooling.

The throw gives the Chicago Bears a 14-10 lead at the half. Fields is 7-of-10 for 54 yards with that touchdown, while he also leads the team with 13 rushing yards on a pair of carries.
Justin Fields’ ball-placement is ELITE

The Bears have held firm that veteran Andy Dalton will be the Week 1 starter. It is hard to argue that Fields hasn’t been the more impressive quarterback during the offseason. It is going to be a real test of Bears fans’ patience.
How do you not start Justin Fields? pic.twitter.com/T4ObfqfoU3

Man, Justin Fields just does some stuff you can’t coach. Athleticism to get out of the pocket and a dead eye accurate back shoulder pass for 6 in the two minute.

Imagine not starting Justin Fields.

I’m perfectly fine with having Justin Fields’ preseason end into the second half.
That touchdown pass is a perfect way to make a statement heading into the regular season. Let the coaching staff chew on that play when deciding who to start Week 1. #Bears

I can’t believe the Bears aren’t starting Justin Fields because we don’t want to hurt Andy Dalton’s feelings. SMH. https://t.co/2jpuPEWIM6

every snap Andy Dalton plays is a waste of everybody’s time https://t.co/9W6VAwJluG

“Matt Nagy was having a night where he wanted Justin Fields to play well, but not too well.” https://t.co/m27Jmg52nn

It sounds like Dalton will be the guy for Chicago when they hit the field on Sunday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 12. Feeding Fields to Aaron Donald and company would be tough for his first regular season start.
If Dalton falters, however, Justin Fields is going to be breathing down his neck.
