Luckily for Louisville, this was not the most dramatic week of football on the schedule. The team welcomed in FCS club Eastern Kentucky, and handled things how you’d expect, winning 30-3.
On one play, wide receiver Ahmari Huggins-Bruce broke a huge play, nearly scoring an impressive long touchdown. Before crossing the goal line, he dropped the ball in celebration.
The ball went into the end zone for a touchback. It’s a pretty rough moment for a player, even in a comfortable win.
Ahmari Huggins-Bruce is going to want to forget this one: He drops the ball before going into the end zone. So it’s a fumble and a touchback instead of a touchdown. pic.twitter.com/PIXrHdHLjL

It was a pretty dominant performance for Huggins-Bruce, statistically. He caught four passes for 150 yards, 94 coming on that play. Unfortunately, he didn’t finish things off well.
The play still made some history for the Cardinals program, as the longest pass play that the program has had. The lack of score sullies things a bit.
Malik Cunningham and Ahmari Huggins-Bruce are officially credited with a 94-yard pass completion and reception.
Huggins-Bruce is credited with a fumble lost.
The play ties the record for longest pass in Louisville history.

The future is still bright for the true freshman out of Dillon, South Carolina. After a two-reception, 18 yard game in the season opening loss against Ole Miss, he had an impressive breakout today.
Louisville football moves to 1-1 with the win. The team has a tough home game against UCF next Friday, Sept. 17.
