Curtis Samuel’s first season with the Washington Football Team is not going nearly as well as fans thought it would.
Washington was without Samuel for a large portion of training camp due to a groin injury. He returned to practice just in time for the team’s season opener, but he suffered a setback during Wednesday’s session.
Samuel left practice with what appeared to be complications from that preexisting groin injury. It was very evident that he just didn’t feel right while running routes.
On Friday afternoon, Washington head coach Ron Rivera had an update on Samuel’s status. Unfortunately, the team has placed Samuel on injured reserve.

Samuel will have to miss at least the next three games for Washington. This is a crushing blow for the Ohio State product, but his stint on injured reserve might not last very long.
If he can make a speedy recovery, Samuel could be back on the field by Week 4. That would be the best-case scenario for Rivera’s squad.
Samuel showcased his playmaking skills during the 2020 season, as he had 851 receiving yards and 200 rushing yards for the Carolina Panthers.
Washington signed Samuel to a three-year, $34.5 million contract earlier this offseason. Now that Samuel is being placed on injured reserve, the front office will have to wait a bit longer to see if he was worth the investment.
