Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz was mentioned in several trade rumors this year, and yet, he remains on the team’s roster.
Multiple teams were linked to Ertz this offseason, like the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars, but so far the Eagles haven’t received an offer they’re willing to accept. Even though Ertz’s days in Philadelphia appear to be numbered, the Pro Bowl tight end isn’t letting it affect his relationship with the franchise.
According to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Ertz reported on time for the start of training camp on Tuesday.
“As expected, Zach Ertz reported for the start of Eagles training camp today, per source,” McLane reported. “While there was great uncertainty about a return during an offseason in which the veteran TE was on the market, he will be in uniform tomorrow for Day 1 of camp. Game 1 isn’t as definitive.”

In 2020, Ertz was limited to 36 receptions for 335 yards and one touchdown. It was the worst statistical season of his professional career.
When healthy, Ertz is one of the best tight ends in the NFL. He could form a nice one-two punch with Dallas Goedert this fall, if he can shake off last season’s ankle injury.
Any team interested in trading for Ertz would have to be comfortable with his $8.5 million base salary for the 2021 season.
