Arizona, GCU baseball make 2022 NCAA Tournament as at-large bids

May 31, 2022 by ArizonaSports.com - 98.7 FM

Two teams in the state advanced to the 2022 Division I Men’s Baseball Championship, with Arizona and Grand Canyon baseball making the field of 64.

After a 37-23 record, the Wildcats will head to the Coral Gables Region hosted by the overall 6-seed Miami Hurricanes.

Arizona will be the 2-seed in its region and will play 3-seed Ole Miss (32-22) in its first game on Friday. It marks the 41st time the Wildcats have made the tournament in program history.

The Wildcats had a 2-2 record this weekend at the Pac-12 Conference Baseball Tournament and were bounced by eventual tournament champion and the No. 2 seed nationally, Stanford.

As for GCU, the Antelopes make the tournament for the second straight season.

With a 41-19 record, GCU received an at-large bid after losing in the WAC Tournament Championship on Sunday to Abilene Christian. It’s the first time the WAC received two bids since 2012.
