The Jedd Fisch era is still more than a month away from playing, but it just landed Arizona’s highest-ranked recruit in three years.
Zeke Berry, a 3-star cornerback from Concord, Calif., has pledged to the Wildcats for 2022 over offers from Cal, Oregon, Oregon State and Pittsburgh, among others.

The 6-foot, 185-pound Berry is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 384 prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, as well as the 38th-best cornerback and the No. 28 prospect from California. His 0.8879 composite rating is the highest for an Arizona commit since Boobie Curry, Grant Gunnell and Bobby Wolfe topped that in 2019.
Berry, who visited Arizona in early June, “can play cornerback, safety, running back or receiver, but projects best to a defensive back in college,:” 247Sports’ Brandon Huffman has written. “Can come downhill and end plays with big hits and open field tackling ability, but able to run stride for stride with receivers and has tremendous ball skills, hips and quick hands. As a receiver, shows great burst when taking short passes and sticking his foot in the dirt to get in to the open field.”
Berry plays for Northern California powerhouse De La Salle, where he’s starred in both baseball and football. He is Arizona’s 13th commitment for 2022, with five of those coming in July; he’s the sixth from California and the fourth defensive back.
