Arizona has had a solid June on the recruiting trail, picking up nine commitments for the 2026 recruiting class to bump its total number to 14. The highest-rated of that group is 3-star Texas cornerback Xaier Hiler, who comes in at No. 596 in 247Sports’ composite rankings.
But the Wildcats are in the mix for a few players ranked much higher than that, including 4-star Texas athlete Paris Melvin Jr., who on Tuesday included the UA among his final four schools along with Baylor, Houston and Ole Miss.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Melvin is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 293 player in the 2026 recruiting class as well as the 17th-best athlete and No. 38 prospect from Texas. He holds offers from 35 schools and has visited five, checking out Arizona on May 30 with a group of prospects that includes 2026 commits Henry Gabalis and Caleb Smith.
A two-way star at Cy Springs High School in Cypress, Texas, Melvin scored 21 total touchdowns as a junior as a running back, receiver, defensive back and returner.
Melvin is the second 4-star prospect in the past week to include Arizona among his finalists. The other, 4-star quarterback Oscar Rios, is set to pick between the Wildcats and UCLA on Friday.
