5-star shooting guard Shaedon Sharpe includes Arizona in top 10

July 28, 2021 by AZ Desert Swarm

FIBA

Class of 2022 5-star shooting guard Shaedon Sharpe has included the Arizona Wildcats in his list of 10 schools.

Sharpe plays for Dream City Christian School in Glendale as is considered the No. 1 player from the state of Arizona in his class and the No. 8 overall prospect, according to 247 Sports.

Other suitors include Alabama, Kansas, Oregon, Texas, USC and Kentucky, who is considered the favorite to land the 6-foot-4, 175 lb. rising senior.

The Wildcats offered Sharpe on June 1, and he took an unofficial visit to Tucson on June 18.

Originally from London, Ontario, Sharpe played at Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas before transferring to Dream City ahead of the 2020-21 school year.

Interestingly, former UA head coach Sean Miller and his staff did not offer Sharpe last fall or winter, even as he was gaining offers from several high major programs.

Here’s how NBA Draft Room describes Sharpe’s game:

“Sharpe is a quick, bouncy wing prospect with long arms and all the tools you want to see. He’s got a quick first step and gets to the rim with ease and can really finish through contact. He’s a great slasher and a good off ball cutter who always looks to take advantage of his nice finishing ability by making moves to the rim. Sharpe is still developing his ball handling, play-making and outside shooting game. He’s got the makings of a nice pull up jump shot and gets good rhythm with the dribble before rising up for the shot. He’s not a pure shooter but shows promise.”

Sharpe competes on the Nike EYBL circuit with UPLAY Canada. In 12 games this summer, he is averaging 22.6 points on a 47.9 shooting percentage. Sharpe has connected on 28 of 77 3-point attempts. He also averages 5.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 turnovers per game.
