6-foot-11 Class of 2022 big man Leonard Miller set for Kentucky, Arizona visits

Leonard Miller, the 6-foot-11 left-handed Class of 2022 big man from Fort Erie International Academy in Ontario, leaves for his official visit to Kentucky on Thursday night (tonight) and will then travel to Arizona after visiting the NBA G League Ignite facilities in Walnut Creek, Calif.

He recently cut Gonzaga, Kansas, Oklahoma State, TCU, Alabama, Providence, Auburn and the Overtime Elite league from his original list of 10.

Miller, who averaged 32 points per game last season at Fort Erie, played last week for the World Team in the Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, Ore., where he notched 11 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks in a 102-80 loss to Team USA.

“I think Leonard Miller has unlimited upside,” Fort Erie coach Charles Hantoumakos told ZAGSBLOG. “There’s nothing he can’t do, shoot, pass, handle, rebound, guard.

“He has an insatiable work ethic and is as coachable as they come. That is why he has, and will continue to ascend for years to come.”

The younger brother of TCU forward Emanuel Miller, Leonard was 6-4 shooting guard just a couple of years ago before undergoing a growth spurt. At 18, his upside intrigues many in the basketball world.

“He’s a long, athletic play-making wing and slasher,” one G League official said.

Kentucky coach John Calipari and assistant Chin Coleman recently visited Miller at Fort Erie.

“Just what they do with their players,” he told on3 of Kentucky’s appeal. “The opportunity to come and work for what I want and possibly get a lot of playing time, if I do work for it, and show what I can do at Kentucky. I’ve always liked them and they just have a good history of producing.”

Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd has had great success with international players both at Gonzaga and Arizona and Miller will get a chance to learn more about Lloyd and his vision on the visit.

“I’m just now getting to know them, but what they got going on is good,” Miller told on3. “They’re cool, I like them.”

As far as his future goals, Miller told on3.com he will choose his next step with an eye toward eventually reaching the NBA.

“It just comes down to me having the best feeling of if it’s the right place for me to reach my dreams,” he said. “Really wherever is the best place for me to maximize the outcome.”
