On a day when Arizona baseball lost two of its best hitters to the transfer portal, another decided to stay put in Tucson.
All-American catcher Daniel Susac announced on Twitter that he will remain at Arizona.
“Nowhere else I’d rather be, let’s run it back,” he wrote accompanied by a picture of him in a Wildcats uniform.

The 6-foot-4 Roseville, Calif. native was the 2021 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and made several All-American teams. He batted .335 with 12 home runs, 24 doubles and 65 RBI. The 24 doubles are a UA freshman record.
Susac’s announcement comes on the heels of Jacob Berry and Branden Boissiere entering the transfer portal. And those two aren’t the only ones exploring their options.
Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball reported Tuesday that 12 Wildcats have entered the transfer portal with more departures likely.
Speaking of not so great, @ArizonaBaseball has had 12 players enter the Transfer Portal in the last 24 hours, and I’m fairly certain the departures aren’t over with in Tucson. https://t.co/eelVMcSnnD

Susac’s decision to stay at Arizona means he’ll get to play with his cousin Anthony Susac, a class of 2021 UA commit. The younger Susac is a 6-foot-3 right-handed pitcher from Sacramento who Perfect Game labels a “three-pitch durable starter type.”
It won’t be long until an all-Susac battery takes the field at Arizona.
