Jim Furyk broke through on the PGA Tour 18 years ago with a win at the U.S. Open.
That victory would turn out to be Furyk’s only major championship as a professional golfer until Sunday, when the 51-year old won the U.S. Senior Open.

The Arizona alum becomes the 8th player all-time to win both the U.S. Open and the U.S. Senior Open.
Furyk battled through heat, humidity and a lengthy storm delay to win the tournament, played at Omaha (Neb.) Country Club.
Furyk shot 7-under-par across four rounds, including a 6-under 64 for Round 2. He made a pair of birdies on the back nine Sunday to stave off runner-ups Mike Weir and Retief Goosen, who each finished 4-under.

This is Furyk’s third win on the PGA Tour Champions, the PGA’s senior tour for players 50 and older, and first since September 2020, when he won the PURE Insurance Championship.
Furyk now has 10 top-10 finishes in 16 PGA Tour Champions events. His previous highest finish at a seniors major was sixth in the Bridge Senior Players Championship held two weeks ago.
A two-time All-American at Arizona, Furyk is wildly considered the most successful former UA male golfer in school history.
